What is PAMET?
It is the acronym for the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists with nationwide chapters serving the professional and cultural needs of foreign trained and local trained medical technologists.
Origins of PAMET-USA and PAMET Northern California Chapter
PAMET USA is a national organization with the noble goal of unifying all Filipino medical technologists in the United States. It was born in September, 1988 in Chicago, Illinois, when three independent PAMET organizations (New York, New Jersey and Chicago) decided to merge into one.
Since then, eleven more chapters have been formed: Northern California, Southern California, Georgia, Connecticut, Hawaii, Texas, Washington, D.C., Michigan, Virginia, Indiana and Nevada. The governing body is the National Board with representatives from all chapters. The National Convention convenes every two years.
PAMET USA was born out of the desire to serve the growing needs of our profession. It is a recognition that Filipinos are the biggest minority medical technologist group and that we can and should have influence on the future direction of our profession.
PAMET Northern California was born on April 1, 1989, when the members of the Filipino Medical Technologists Association (FMTA) voted to become a chapter of PAMET-USA.
